Q: What do I get if I move into Sunnycrest?
A: You receive a private apartment of your choosing, which you are free to furnish and decorate as you please. You can have one furnished or unfurnished. You receive three healthy and nutritious meals daily, plus unlimited access to the 24-hour coffee shop. Your rent covers the apartment, all meals, parties, all energy costs, all maintenance and repairs, individual A/C-heating, cable TV, activities, housekeeping, and transportation. The only thing you will be responsible for is the phone. But you really receive much more. You receive 24-hour staffing and an emergency call system in each room of your apartment. This brings peace of mind. Add to that the element positive social stimulation, and you have a situation where the client has options to choose from if they so desire.
Q: If I sign up do I have to pay a fortune, and what if I want to leave?
A: Not everyone has a fortune to spend, and we understand the realities of life. There is a small admission fee that hold the apartment until you move in, and other than the monthly rent, that is it. There are no buy-ins or long term contracts to sign. As far as options, the agreements are month to month, so you are free to make any decision you feel is the right one at any time.
Q: I have lived in the same house for 50 years. Why should I make a change?
A: That is a very personal decision. But in most cases the answer is that it is time to make a change because the situation itself has changed. Too many people end up serving an empty house. Many no longer want to have to maintain a large home, especially when they really actually use maybe 25% of it. It is hard to maintain a large home, and very expensive. Many do not want the hassle of it, and do not want to have to deal with the constant barrage of monthly bills, the gardner, the repairs, the cooking, cleaning, and the trips to the supermarket. Many people reach a point in their life where they prefer to have someone else have to cook and clean and do all of the grunt work. They want freedom from the household chores. It allows the client to finally do what they want, without the burden of a large house. One should also consider the social element, as all too often there is a scenario of elder isolation. At Sunnycrest you have both your privacy and independence to do what you please when you please, but if you want or need us, we are there.
Q: I am independent now, but what if in the future I need more care? Would you take me out of my home and move me to another building to receive it?
A: No, we do not move our residents for our convenience. Your home is your home and we appreciate that. Many facilities do in fact move residents out of their apartments to different wings or buildings when they desire greater care, but not at Sunnycrest. We do not treat people like furniture. We respect their feelings and the importance of comfort and continuity. If you live at Sunnycrest and want Assisted Living, our staff will simply come to you. A full menu of services are available, and we customize the services and care options based on the client's indivdual needs. That is how it should be. That is how we would want it for our family, and that is the Sunncyrest way.
Q: Is Sunnycrest a social environment?
A: Sunnycrest is as social an environment as you want it to be. Many of our residents are very social, and enjoy everything from the numerous parties, relaxing in the coffee shop, exercise classes, outings, to daily movies on our large screen TV. They connect and enjoy companionship with other people at the restaurant-style dining room. Others are more private and choose not to participate in activities. It is up to each individual to decide what they are comfortable with.
Q: How good is the food?
A: Food is very important at Sunnycrest. We have an extensive and delicious menu reviewed by a dietitian to ensure that our residents are getting what they need and enjoying it. Dining is a pleasure at Sunnycrest, and we are always working to meet the needs and desires of our residents. We also can accommodate nearly any special diet. The dining room itself, which is very large, spacious and bright, overlooks the koi pond and is a pleasurable place to dine. Servers serve the residents like in a restaurant. We also have a private dining room so our clients can entertain family and friends.
Q: I already know that this is what I need. Why should I choose Sunnycrest?
A: First, we are in an excellent location. Located three blocks from St. Jude's Hospital, we are in the heart of the medical community, which makes doctor visits easier. Shopping is close by, and we are located in a beautiful and safe area where one can freely walk without the the noise, grime, and danger of the busy main streets.
Second, when it comes to choosing the right option for your elderly loved ones care, you have to ask yourself who will take better care and be more committed to their residents? Would it be a family, that constantly visits the facility and knows the residents by name, or would it be a faceless corporation with dozens, if not hundreds, of facilities? Would it be the founders of Sunnycrest, who built the building and have cared for their residents since day one, or would it be a company that often buys and sells facilities, and who need to be most concerned with the daily fluctuations of the price of their stock? The tone of every operation starts from the top. It is easy to write a fancy mission statement and to spend mass amounts in glossy advertising. But at Sunnycrest we are the real thing. We are family owned and operated, and it makes all the difference in the world. One visit, and you will know why you should choose Sunnycrest.
